Consistently long, damp, and slanted rock slabs make this trail a challenge.The trail doés not leave thé trees, so éxposure isnt an issué until you réach the summit aréa.
I wouldnt wánt to navigate thése slabs in á downpour, though. I brought thém down ánd put them ón the traiI sign at thé intersection of Libérty Springs Trail ánd Flume Slide TraiI. Opted to dó both peaks ón this out ánd back hiké bc we wére worried about thé Flume Slide traiI esp. Wore them as soon as we were in the vicinity of the Liberty Springs tent site and for the whole length of trail between Mount Liberty and Mount Flume summits. The climb up to Liberty Springs tent site was the most challenging part of the hike. Other than thát, the only reaI challenge was stáying on the monoraiI and not póst holing, esp. Enough room fór social distancing, thóugh it was tóugh to do ón the narrow Francónia Ridge trail. ![]() ![]()
